At its Galaxy Unpacked event in London, Samsung announced that Samsung Wallet will now natively support stablecoins. The app already stores payment cards, ID cards, and hotel keys; this expansion means stablecoins will be integrated into its everyday payment and digital credential system. Samsung did not announce a launch date, nor did it specify which issuers or blockchains will be supported.

Circle's USDC was featured in the live demonstration, but Samsung did not confirm that Circle had become an official partner. The company stated on stage that Samsung Wallet will expand beyond cash and savings instruments to include digital value carriers such as stablecoins.

Three key pieces of information have not yet been disclosed.

Samsung has not yet explained the specific product structure for this feature, and several pieces of information that are of most interest to the outside world have not yet been disclosed.

  • When will it be officially launched?
  • Are user assets managed by Samsung or a third party?
  • On which blockchain will the stablecoin be deployed?

If an escrow model is adopted, user funds will be held by Samsung or a partner institution; if a non-escrow model is adopted, users will retain control of their private keys. The report notes that Samsung has not yet provided any comment on this aspect.

Samsung had previously developed a crypto wallet.

This isn't Samsung's first foray into the crypto asset space. Back in 2019, Samsung incorporated crypto asset storage capabilities into its Galaxy phones using the Knox security architecture, supporting assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, and Stellar. These functions operate within a hardware-isolated secure zone and can be unlocked via PIN code or fingerprint.

In 2021, Samsung further expanded its on-device crypto asset management capabilities by allowing Galaxy users to connect hardware wallets such as the Ledger Nano S to this security module.

Last year, the partnership with Coinbase was expanded.

In October 2025, Samsung expanded its partnership with Coinbase, directly integrating cryptocurrency purchase functionality into Samsung Wallet, reaching approximately 75 million Galaxy users in the United States. This means that Samsung had already integrated cryptocurrency purchase functionality into its wallet, and now, with the addition of stablecoin support, its product development path is quite coherent.

Alongside the announcement, Samsung also launched its first credit card in the US market, the Galaxy Card. Issued by Barclays and running on the Visa network, the card offers cashback on Samsung purchases and Samsung Wallet transactions. Samsung describes these new moves collectively as an expansion around the payment, security, and rewards experience.

Stablecoins continue to enter consumer markets.

From an industry perspective, stablecoins are continuing to penetrate from transaction scenarios into consumer terminals. The report mentions that about a year after the implementation of the US GENIUS Act, the global stablecoin supply has reached nearly $310 billion. Samsung's recent statement indicates that major mobile phone manufacturers are beginning to treat stablecoins as a regular feature within their wallet systems, rather than just a standalone crypto application option.
