Female Health Company Evvy announces completion of $40 million Series B financing, led by Catalio Capital Management. The company aims to leverage vaginal microbiome data and AI tools to expand research in female health and extend its business from vaginal health to the field of fertility.

Detection results integrated with doctor services

The service process for Evvy is as follows: after users collect samples at home, they send the swabs back to the laboratory. The company then uses its own mNGS sequencing method for analysis, followed by review by registered doctors on the platform. Finally, the results are uploaded to the patient's health portal. The company states that when users receive their results, they will also see the diagnosis, clinical interpretation, and subsequent treatment recommendations; in appropriate cases, personalized prescription care is also provided.

Has covered over 100,000 patients

Evvy indicates that the company currently serves over 100,000 patients in the United States and collaborates with 3,000 practicing physicians. The company also claims to have produced 15 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts to date, identified new subtypes of bacterial vaginosis, and discovered hundreds of previously uncataloged vaginal microbiome genomes.

The company stated that the accumulated data has begun to be used by platform doctors to provide more personalized treatment plans. However, treatment is not the only goal of Evvy. The company's larger plan is to establish a dataset that connects microbiome biology, symptoms, interventions, and health outcomes, in order to continuously improve care and to identify new biomarkers.

AI Assistants and fertility research advancing in tandem

In May of this year, Evvy launched its own AI assistant, EvvyAI, which is positioned as a vaginal health advisor. This tool converts the company's accumulated microbiome data into real-time recommendations for users; if the issue requires professional judgment, the system will guide the patient to contact a doctor.

Co-founder and CEO Priyanka Jain stated that a fundamental issue in current precision medicine is the lack of high-quality, representative female biological data. She believes that relying solely on existing data is insufficient to support precision medicine tailored specifically for women, and the performance of AI in addressing women's health issues is also limited by the inadequacy of training data.

In addition to vaginal health, Evvy has begun to enter the field of fertility, which represents the company's first major expansion of its business scope. The company is currently organizing relevant data and scientific evidence, with a focus on studying the connections between the vaginal microbiome and infertility, gynecological cancers, premature birth, the success rate of in vitro fertilization (IVF), as well as recurrent pregnancy losses.

Additional information:Evvy mentioned that last year, the company launched a prospective study at the IVF clinic, using its vaginal microbiome testing tools to collect data. The long-term goal is to expand home-based, non-invasive sampling into a more routine method for women's health testing.
