A national class-action law firm, Edelson Lechtzin LLP, stated that it is investigating data privacy claims involving Tradier Brokerage Inc. Tradier Brokerage is an online brokerage firm headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anyone who has received a notice of a data breach or believes that their information may have been compromised can apply for a free case assessment.
What happened?
On August 28, 2026, a cyberattack targeted Etna Software Corporation. This company is a third-party supplier that provides an order management system and pre-trade controls for Tradier to operate its brokerage business. Tradier stated that it became aware of this incident on September 3, 2026. Tradier also indicated that its internal network was not compromised throughout the entire incident and remained secure; the leakage was limited to the systems and data held by Etna.
Tradier has begun notifying affected customers via email and has disclosed the incident to the Attorney General of California. According to regulatory documents, as of now, the incident has affected 9,404 residents of Texas and 1,580 residents of Massachusetts. Tradier stated that they are reviewing their third-party partnerships and data minimization plans.
Which information may be leaked?
According to Tradier Brokerage, the personal information that may be accessed includes:
- Full name
- Address
- Telephone number
- Social Security Number
- Government-issued tax identification number
Since social security numbers and tax identification numbers are among the most sensitive categories of personal information, such leaks can expose affected individuals to a higher risk of identity theft and financial fraud.
Who may be affected?
This investigation focuses on those Tradier Brokerage customers whose personal information is stored in the Etna system and is used for the operation of Tradier brokerage services. Tradier has arranged for Cyberscout (a subsidiary of TransUnion) to provide affected individuals with up to two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection; eligible individuals need to complete registration within 90 days after receiving the notification letter.
Legal Choice
Edelson Lechtzin LLP is representing individuals whose data may have been leaked in a potential class action lawsuit. If the case is won, compensation for losses such as time wasted, out-of-pocket expenses, and infringement of privacy rights may be recovered, and it may also prompt Tradier Brokerage to strengthen data protection measures.
