Xahau is developed by the Xahau community and team, operating as an open-source project under the XRPL ecosystem. The network runs on xahaud, a C++ based consensus and RPC application maintained by contributors on GitHub.

Xahau launched its mainnet in October 2023 with network ID 21337. As of 2026, it has processed over 22 million ledgers, 500 million+ hook executions, and operates more than 300 nodes with 200,000+ accounts.

Xahau is built on the XRP Ledger protocol with an innovative Hooks mechanism enabling lightweight smart contracts directly on accounts. It supports automatic logic for approvals, rejections, and custom behaviors without traditional contract calls. The network burns a portion of transaction fees.

XAH has a total supply of approximately 267.77 million tokens with a maximum supply cap of 100 billion. The token features fee-burning mechanics where a portion of each transaction fee is destroyed, creating deflationary pressure over time.
